With “green collar jobs” receiving so much attention in recent months,
we’ve decided to take a good look at what exactly is happening in
solar workforce development. What do green collar jobs in solar look
like today? Which programs are working? Which need improvement? Why?
Starting my research, I came across a great new resource, The Green
Jobs Guidebook, published by the Ella T. Baker Center and the
Environmental Defense Fund. Geared toward job-seekers, the Guide
describes both the types of jobs created by the renewable energy
economy and the best ways to access those opportunities. It includes
a detailed list of all the green job training programs,
apprenticeships and placement services available in California.
