I approve of the public's money being spent to research new technologies (universities and research facilities) and reward companies for their successful management of the risks (with rebates and other performance-based investments). The Solyndra investment is a government sponsorship of a particular company without a proven record of low-cost manufacturing and reaching price targets. I believe that government investment in a particular company is wrong; I endorse rebates and incentive programs for any/many companies to develop and deploy renewable technologies as a merit-based reward for performance.
