One more solar contract for LADWP

December 12th, 2012 § 0

Sempra U.S. Gas and Power announced today that Los Angeles and Burbank are going to buy solar power from a 250 MW plant in Boulder City, NV.

The price?  According to the city attorney, via this contract (pdf) LADWP will be getting 1.9% of its power from an emission free, global-warming fighting, peak generating resource for the low low price of 9.5 cents/kWh.

For a utility that still gets 41% of its power from coal, this is great news.

On a related note, readers may have noticed that there is a lot of solar development happening in Boulder City, NV.  Why?  The free beer must have something to do with it.
