Nevada Shows We Are ALL Solar
Nevada regulators now have less than 30 days to decide whether or not to keep solar affordable for energy consumers. With the state’s solar future hanging in the balance, the overwhelming strength and diversity of Nevadans who are speaking out shows that we are ALL solar.
This week we joined solar workers, advocates and local residents to deliver more than 31,000 petitions urging regulators to not add new fees or cut net metering benefits for solar customers. Their messages were echoed in a press conference calling for solar leadership from the PUCN.

It’s inspiring to see the strength and diversity of the organizations that are speaking up: the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), Chispa Nevada, Christian Coalition of America, and the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada all participated in the solar actions. Local high school students Anyssa and Caitlin gave us especially important reminder of what it is we’re fighting for … It’s their future and ours that’s at stake as regulators consider the path forward for solar. They’re standing strong for solar – and we hope you will too!
NV Energy is trying to protect its monopoly on power by creating discriminatory new electric rates that make solar a bad deal for its customers. Before the end of the year, regulators at the PUCN will decide whether to accept the big utility’s proposal or stand strong for Nevada solar.
If the utility succeeds, it would put solar out of reach for most families and businesses. It would put the solar jobs of more than 5,900 Nevadans at risk. And we would all lose out on a major opportunity to clean our air, combat climate change and reduce energy-related water consumption at a time of historic drought. We can’t let that happen.
