This fall, Vote Solar hosted “Powering Communities through COVID-19” in partnership with the CLEO Institute and Catalyst Miami. As we move into a new era for the federal government under President-elect Joe Biden, the Biden-Harris Transition Team has announced its COVID-19 Advisory Board, including co-chair Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, a Yale professor and health equity research leader who focuses on promoting health and healthcare equity for structurally marginalized populations.
The Biden-Harris team has also committed to establishing a COVID-19 Racial and Ethnic Disparities Task Force, proposed by Vice President-elect Harris to “provide recommendations and oversight on disparities in the public health and economic response.” When the U.S. transitions out of the coronavirus pandemic, this group will transition to a permanent Infectious Disease Racial Disparities Task Force.
Vote Solar will continue to advocate in partnership to support policies that will lift up underserved communities in this health and economic crisis, and hold elected leaders accountable for their commitments to furthering racial equity.
