Vote Solar in Support of Governor Hobbs’ Executive Order to Advance Affordable, Equitable Clean Power
Earlier this week, Governor Hobbs issued an executive order, Removing Barriers to Delivering Affordable Energy for Arizona, directing state agencies to move faster on clean energy projects while keeping affordability front and center as electricity demands surge. With federal permitting delays threatening billions in investment and thousands of jobs, the state is stepping up to tap its abundant solar resources, grow local generation, and protect households and businesses from rising energy costs. This action is especially critical as utilities project peak electricity demand could climb 40% over the next 15 years.
Vote Solar’s Regional Director for the West, Itzel Rios-Vega, issued the following statement:
“Governor Hobbs’ order recognizes what Arizonans already know: solar power is the most affordable and reliable way to meet our state’s growing energy needs. By cutting red tape for solar, storage, and transmission projects, this order will lower costs for families, create good-paying jobs, and put Arizona on a stronger path to a clean energy future.
“We’re encouraged by the focus on tribal energy sovereignty and affordability programs, and we want to see these commitments translate into real benefits for communities across Arizona. Arizona has some of the best solar potential in the country, and this order shows the state is serious about building an energy system that works for everyone.”
