Alejandro Sobrera Barboza
Diversity and Justice Associate at The Climate Reality Project
Alejandro Sobrera Barboza is an environmental and climate justice advocate dedicated to community organizing and empowerment. He began his advocacy journey as the Orange County hub coordinator for the Sunrise Movement, a youth-led climate justice organization committed to securing a livable future for all.
One of Alejandro’s proudest climate victories was during his time as a campaign coordinator at Azul, where he contributed to successfully blocking the Poseidon desalination plant in Huntington Beach. He currently serves as the Diversity and Justice Associate at the Climate Reality Project, where he works to integrate climate and language justice into the organization’s initiatives.
Alejandro holds a master’s degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), specializing in climate, development, and sustainability. He also serves on the board of directors for Together for Nature, an organization empowering Northeast Illinois communities to improve social and environmental conditions through education, leadership, and advocacy.
In his free time, Alejandro enjoys tea, hotpot, and studying Mandarin.
