Your Monthly Power Bill Is on Your Ballot in 2026
Arizona’s primary election is July 21, and one important statewide race may be easy to overlook: the Arizona Corporation Commission.
The Arizona Corporation Commission, or ACC, is an elected body that helps oversee utility rates, service, reliability, and long-term energy planning for most investor-owned utilities in the state. It also makes decisions that shape how utilities recover costs and the regulatory framework for energy resources, including policies that can affect customer access to technologies like rooftop solar and battery storage. Its decisions affect issues Arizona households experience every day, including electricity costs, reliable power during extreme heat, and the state’s evolving energy system.
Arizona voters elect the five commissioners who serve on the ACC. Two seats are up for election in 2026, and voters may select up to two candidates in this race.
The July 21st primary is one important step in this year’s election. The candidates who advance will appear on the general election ballot on November 3. Because the ACC race often appears near the end of the ballot, voters should take time to review the full ballot in both elections.
As you prepare to vote this year, make a plan, follow the instructions for each race, and use official election resources to confirm where and how to cast your ballot.
Complete your full ballot, and remember that the Arizona Corporation Commission is on it too.
