February 7th is ‘Environmental Day’ at the AZ State Capitol
AZ Challenges, AZ Solutions

(PHOENIX, AZ) Participants from throughout Arizona will be at the Arizona State Capitol or participating virtually to meet with their legislators about key environmental issues, including climate change, water, democracy, and funding for parks. Everyone is welcome to attend. This year’s theme is “AZ Challenges, AZ Solutions.”

The ranking members of the House and Senate Natural Resources Committees, Representative Stephanie Stahl-Hamilton and Senator Priya Sundareshan, Nicole Horseherder, Executive Director for Tó Nizhóní Ání, and youth from several high schools will be the featured speakers and will address water, climate, and just and equitable transition. Participants will include members from more than 40 organizations, as well students from Arizona high schools and community colleges. In addition to hearing from the speakers, participants will also meet with their own representatives and senators whenever possible. Organizations will have information tables.

WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 7, 11:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Speakers from Noon to 1:00 PM, Q and A with Students and Legislators 1:00 PM-1:30 PM, 2:00 PM News Conference on community shading legislation, organization information tables from 11:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

WHERE: Wesley Bolin Plaza, 1700 W Washington St, Phoenix. Also streaming via Facebook and Instagram

Masks will be available for participants;  we will follow all COVID protocols.
