Kartik Amarnath


Regulatory Director, Mid-Atlantic

Kartik Amarnath is Vote Solar’s Mid-Atlantic Regulatory Director. In this role, he supports state-level efforts to transition equitably to clean and renewable energy so as to meaningfully dismantle the energy system’s legacies of harm and injustice. 

Before joining Vote Solar, he was Policy Specialist at PUSH Buffalo. He also previously served as Energy Planner for the NYC Environmental Justice Alliance. In these roles, he worked on developing environmental justice and energy policies and programs serving frontline communities across New York State. He has also worked with the CDC, Democracy Now!, C40, the Tishman Environment and Design Center, and he is a Fulbright alumnus. 

Born in Indianapolis and now based in Brooklyn, Kartik was raised in four countries and is of Sri Lankan Tamil and Indo-Malaysian descent. He received a B.A. in Biology with Anthropology and Philosophy minors from DePauw University and a M.S. in Design and Urban Ecologies from The New School.
