Roles + Responsibilities
The primary role of the Energy Justice Award selection committee is to:
- Review nominations
- Select the top three nominees
Term Limits & Eligibility for Award
Committee members can serve a maximum of three terms in total (consecutive or non-consecutive years). Members are not required to serve multiple terms.
Conflict of Interest
Committee members are not allowed to be nominees or make nominations for the Energy Justice Award during their term of service. Members may not write supporting letters for nominees during their terms of service.
The following connections between selection committee members and nominees are conflicts of interest:
- Working at the same organization within the past two years.
- Financial support via direct chain of command and/or participation in tenure, promotion, salary by committee member or nominee.
- Relationship due to immediate blood relation, current or prior marriage or civil union.
Committee members should review the list of nominees and disclose to the entire committee any conflicts of interest as described above. The Committee member will not review a nominee’s application if there is a conflict of interest.
Confidentiality Statement
Selection committee members agree to not disclose personal information (address, financial standing, demographics, etc.) of nominees. Additionally, members should refrain from disclosing the nominee list to external parties without prior approval from the EJA selection committee and the Partnerships Team.
The nominee names, content, scores and individual decisions of the EJA selection committee are confidential, except for appropriate publicity of the top 10, top 3 and final award winner based upon the preferences of the individual nominee(s), as announced by Vote Solar. Should a nominator seek feedback on the status of their nominee, such communications should be directed to the Partnerships Team at Vote Solar.
Committee Process Transparency
Vote Solar and the Energy Justice Award selection committee are committed to process transparency. All selection committee guidelines and selection processes will be shared on Vote Solar’s website. The members listed above have consented to being featured on our website.
Compensation
EJA Selection Committee members will receive a stipend of $300.00 each, per award cycle. Stipends will be disbursed at the end of the cycle. This stipend can be paid to the individual committee member directly, to their non-profit organization, or to a non-profit organization of their choice.
