Rev. Ronald Tuff – A Champion for Climate Justice in New Jersey

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Newark, New Jersey, Rev. Ronald Tuff is a dedicated advocate for community development and environmental justice. With a passion for advancing the well-being of his community, he has been actively engaged in the not-for-profit sector for over three decades, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Empowering Communities and Fostering Growth

A proud graduate of West Side High School and Wilberforce University, Rev. Tuff understands the importance of education and its role in promoting personal and economic growth. Throughout his career, he has worked tirelessly to educate and support families, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential.

As an Associate Pastor of First Bethel Baptist Church of Irvington, Rev. Tuff provided spiritual and ministry guidance, fostering spiritual development and training for church employees and volunteers. He played a key role in promoting growth in membership and spirituality, managing day-to-day operations and budgets.

Dedicated Leadership in Community Action

When he was a former Executive Director of the Patterson Task Force for Community Action, Rev. Tuff displayed exemplary leadership and management skills. In this multifaceted role, he collaborated with the community and government, creating and implementing new programs and policies to address the needs of the people. Serving as a liaison between funding sources and the community, Rev. Tuff provided strategic planning to drive positive change.

A Lifelong Advocate for Social Justice

Rev. Tuff’s commitment to social justice extends beyond his professional roles. He has served as the former president of the NAACP, Patterson branch, and the Patterson Great Fall Lions Club. Additionally, he is an active member of the Paterson Rotary Club and the National Community Action Association.

A member of the Executive Directors Association and the 2nd vice president of the New Jersey Black Issues Convention, Rev. Tuff tirelessly works to promote equity and inclusivity in all spheres of society.

Recognizing the urgent need for action on climate change, Rev. Tuff has become a vocal advocate for sustainable practices and environmental justice. As the coordinator of Black Church Development in the New Green Economy for GreenFaith Inc., he champions offshore wind, electric vehicles, and solar installation programs.

Rev. Tuff firmly believes that low and moderate-income communities, especially those of Black and Brown backgrounds, deserve equitable access to opportunities in the New Green Economy. In his vision, a cleaner climate not only protects our planet but also fosters better health in communities disproportionately impacted by climate change.
