4 Inspiring Solar Stories From Across the U.S.

Every day, Vote Solar teams up with people like you to transform the way our nation is powered. With fossil fuel lobbyists and entrenched naysayers at every turn, the job of a solar advocate is never easy. But the stories of families, businesses and communities who are using clean energy to improve lives inspire me to keep moving forward, one great solar story at a time.

From New Mexico to West Virginia, solar heroes are all around us — and I wanted to share some of their stories with you. WATCH:

Community Power in Picuris Pueblo

In their ancestral land in the mountains of Northern New Mexico, Picuris Pueblo is powering their tribal community with solar — lowering bills for families while building resilience and combatting climate change.

Renewed Opportunity in Pittsburgh

In a city known for its steel and fossil fuel plants, communities are growing community solar for a stronger economy, better health, the future that they’re building for their children.

Solar Generations in San Diego

Meet Robbie Montgmery: A solar powered San Diegan who’s using sunshine to save on her bills today and to build a brighter tomorrow for her grandchildren.

Mining the Sun in Appalachia

In an energy-producing state where coal has been king, West Virginians are driving a new energy economy with solar.

These are real people, putting sunshine to work to save money, creating local jobs, reducing harmful pollution, and building a brighter, more resilient future for our children and grandchildren. Their stories remind me that there is no one reason for our commitment to advancing solar – there is every reason.

And that’s why the Vote Solar team works with a determination as intense as a thousand suns to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future that gives everyone the opportunity to benefit.

If you want to learn more about what we were up to this past month, check out how we’ve been acting for energy justice in New Jersey, making the case that clean energy is better than dirty fossil fuels in Michigan, and pushing to use solar for wildfire resilience in California.

Community by community and state by state, together we are powering this country forward with clean energy.
