Vote Solar Statement on the Passing of Cecil Corbin-Mark

Vote Solar mourns the passing of Cecil Corbin-Mark, Deputy Director and Director of Policy Initiatives for WE ACT for Environmental Justice, leading light in the environmental justice community, and Vote Solar Board member.

Cecil lived an extraordinary life and made an incredible impact both in Northern Manhattan and nationwide. We are fortunate to have worked with him and to be able to learn from his wisdom.

Cecil once said: “The way to change the system is to rebuild muscles of communities to change what democracy looks like, help them to move an agenda of their design and desire.” Cecil and his words will remain an inspiration and a north star for our work in the days ahead.

Our heart goes out to his family, the WE ACT Community, and to those of you who knew him well. The movement was brighter for him — may his sunlight shine on.

Hug your family close, and let’s all honor this wonderful man’s life by learning from the example he set – to find joy with family and friends, and fight without fear or favor for what’s right.
